To reduce the time required to display an image in a display device which continues to display the image without drive of a display element.
When a drive part 18 drives the display element of a display body 19, a CPU 11 sets a switch 162 to ON-state, and causes a chip capacitor 161 to store charges, when no charge is stored in the chip capacitor 161, while raising the potential V of step-up voltage of a booster circuit 17. When image display is performed thereafter, the CPU 11 sets the switch 162 to ON-state, when the charges are stored in the chip capacitor 161, to supply the charges stored in the chip capacitor 161 to the drive part 18, thereby helping the rise of potential V of step-up voltage. According to this, the rise time of the step-up voltage to be applied to the drive part 18 can be reduced.
