To provide a driver for a display device by which power consumption can be reduced by the reactive current of a level shifter, a display device and a method for driving the display device.
The driver for the display device comprises: a data signal line driving circuit provided with a shift register, which comprises a plurality of stages of flip flops to be driven synchronously with a source clock signal and a level shifter for boosting the source clock signal whose amplitude is smaller than that of driving voltage for the flip flops and impressing the boosted source clock signal to respective flip flops and can transmit an input pulse synchronously with the source clock, and capable of outputting image display data signals to a plurality of data signal lines; and a control circuit for increasing (Fig.(b)) the frequency of the source clock signal SCK larger than that of normal display (Fig.(a)) for performing multigradation display in a full color mode at the time of image display.
