Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver monitoring method and a driver monitoring apparatus, which are capable of detecting the face orientation angle of a driver with high accuracy even when the imaging direction of a camera is tilted with respect to the back-and-forth direction of a moving body.SOLUTION: A reference point q1 is set in a screen to be imaged by a camera 21 installed in such a manner that a driver of a vehicle can be imaged. When the driver is facing forward in the traveling direction of the vehicle, a positional deviation amount δX between the reference point q1 in the scree imaged by the camera 21 and a current feature point q2 that is the position of a feature point set for the driver in the screen is obtained. Then, based on the positional deviation amount δX, an installation angle φ, which is an angle between the imaging direction of the camera 21 and the back-and-forth direction of the vehicle, is corrected. More specifically, a deviation angle δθ is calculated based on the positional deviation amount δX, the deviation angle δθ is added to the installation angle φ, and an offset angle θoffset is obtained.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
