Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for a field emission type cold cathode element capable of disusing or reducing horizontal deflection magnetic field distribution and vertical deflection magnetic field distribution and suppressing distortion of a beam shape by a magnetic field distribution and enlargement of a radius of a beam spot of a screen.
SOLUTION: This field emission type cold cathode element 3 is formed by arranging field emission type cold cathodes 1 in a three-line shape. A control electrode 2 is arranged to the cold cathode. When an electron beam is converged by an electron lens, deflected by a magnetic field, and irradiated on a screen, the control electrodes A1, B1:A2, B2:A3, and B3 are controlled so that focusing positions of a plurality of beams are apart from each other by reducing a potential difference between a deflection side and an anti-deflection side right above the one cold cathode as compared with a potential difference between a deflection side and an anti-deflection side right above the other cold cathode positioned on the anti-deflection side from the one cold cathode.
