The driving system 1 includes: calculating an estimated value of a torque in charge of a torque converter 4 based on the motor torque and the motor rotation frequency of an electric motor 3, when releasing a lock-up clutch 44 and starting the engine 2 in motor traveling by a motor generator 3; calculating an estimated value of a torque capacity of a lock-up clutch 44 from an estimated value of this torque in charge; and calculating a correction value of an indication value of the torque capacity based on a difference of the estimated value of the torque capacity and the lock-up clutch 44. Then, the release control of the lock-up clutch 44 is performed by using this correction value.
