PURPOSE: To obtain a drug for preserving and activating blood, containing a phosphoenolpyruvic acid, L-ascorbic acid-phosphate, saccharides, adenine and organic acid based buffer agent.
CONSTITUTION: The aimed substance obtained by blending 10W100mmol/l phosphoenolpyruvic acid expressed by the formula (R1 is H or 1W12C alkyl; R2 and R3 are H, alkali metal or 1W12C alkyl) with 5W100moll/l L-ascorbic acid-phosphate or salt thereof, 40W200moll/l saccharides, such as maltose, mannitol or sucrose, 0.1W5mmol/l adenine and 1W50mmoll/l organic acid based buffer agent (e.g., sodium citrate) and preparing a drug by a conventional method. The drug is effective in preventing deformation and deterioration in oxygen release ability of erythrocytes and hemolysis in preserved blood, especially concentrated blood.
