PURPOSE: To prevent dusts generated by the wear of a brake shoe from being adhered to the vicinity of a cam for applying a brake.

CONSTITUTION: A drum brake device is provided with a brake panel 1 mounted on the vehicle body side and a drum 2 which surrounds the brake panel 1 and is mounted on the wheel side. A pair of brake shoes 5 are oscillatingly fitted to the brake panel 1 around an anchor pin 4. An oblong cam 9 is turnably fitted between oscillating end parts 8 of a pair of brake shoes 5. The cam 9 presses the end face of the oscillating end parts 8 of a pair of brake shoes 5 as the cam is turned, and a lining 12 of a pair of brake shoes 5 is brought into press-contact with a sliding part 3 of the drum 2 against the elastic force of return springs 6, 7. The oscillating end parts 8 of a pair of brake shoes 5 and the cam 9 are covered by a cover 10 fitted to the brake panel 1.
