To provide a drum type washing machine which has a stable washing effect by lifting laundries with the drum well and showing a beating washing effect regardless of the operation condition of its circulation pump.
This washing machine rotates a drum 25 in its washing process while a circulation pump 29 is operated intermittently. The control device 27 makes the rotation rate of the drum 25 higher when the circulation pump 29 is operated than the rotation rate of the drum 25 when the circulation pump 29 is stopped. The rotation rate of the drum 25 is controlled to a rotation rate at which the output of a vibration sensor 31 attached to a tank 23 is high, and the operation can be done at a rotation rate of a drum 25 at which lifting condition of laundries 24 is good. Therefore, the washing effect can be improved.
