To provide a meibomian gland observing device which facilitates observation necessary for examination without causing an examination probe to directly touch the eyelid and allows both the upper and lower eyelids to be observed in a relatively short time.
The meibomian gland observing device comprises a light source for emitting light including infrared radiation, a visible light cut filter which is not transparent to visible light and transparent to at least part of the infrared radiation, an optical system for transmitting the light emitted from the light source and transmitted through the visible light cut filter, to an observation part, an optical system for transmitting the light from the observation part to an infrared camera, the infrared camera, and a display for converting the image captured by the infrared camera into a visible image and displaying it thereon. The meibomian gland observing device is used for imaging the observation part which is a region including meibomian glands in the everted eyelid and illuminated with light from the light source by capturing the light reflected from the observation part by means of the infrared camera.
