To achieve a drum type washing machine that performs maintenance-free collection and discharge of lint.
The drum type washing machine includes: a discharge valve 26 for discharging washing water from a bottom of an outer tub 23 having a washing drum 25 inside; a mesh filter 30 that forms a circulating water flow passage by a circulation passage suction opening 38 and a circulation passage A41, a circulation pump 28, a circulation passage B29 and a circulation passage water spray opening 31 in the upstream of the discharge valve 26 and collects lint in the circulation passage suction opening 38; and an on-off valve 35 upstream of the mesh filter 30. In washing and rinsing processes, the on-off valve 35 is made open to collect lint on the mesh filter 30 by a circulating water flow by an operation of the circulation pump 28. The operation of circulation pump 28 is stopped after a lapse of a predetermined time. By closing the on-off valve 35 and opening the discharge valve 26, washing water in the circulation passage B29 and the circulation passage A41 is discharged. Then lint collected on the mesh filter 30 is peeled off and discharged. Thus maintenance-free is achieved.
