PURPOSE: To make a whole length of a drying mechanism shorter than that of by constructing a separating position in a web traveling path conventional ones constructed as a deflection part as simple as possible and making a distance between mutual drying cylinders in the separating position as small as possible.
CONSTITUTION: This drying mechanism of a paper machine contains top drying cylinders 11 to 14, a first drying screen 10 and a first drying group having bottom deflection suction rolls 21 to 23. Subsequently to the drying group, a second drying group having the bottom cylinders 15 to 18, a second drying screen 20 and to deflection suction rolls 25 to 27 is provided. In this way, both sides of the web 9 to be dried come, in succession, into direct contact with the drying cylinders. At the place where the web 9 changes from the first drying screen to the second drying screen, there is a transfer suction roll 24 which lies within the loop 20 of the second support belt.
