Abstract:
To provide a novel dual-fuel engine having a simpler structure.SOLUTION: In a liquid fuel operation mode of a dual-fuel engine (23), a liquid fuel for combusting the liquid fuel can be supplied into the combustion chamber (9) of a cylinder (2) through a fuel supply device (24) having a plurality of fuel pumps (25a, 25b, 25c). In a gas fuel operation mode of the dual-fuel engine (23), into the combustion chamber (9) of the cylinder (2), on the one hand, a gaseous fuel is supplied for combusting the gaseous fuel and on the other hand, an ignition fluid is supplied for igniting the ignition fluid. The fuel supply device (24) for the liquid fuel in the gas fuel operation mode of the dual-fuel engine (23) supplies the ignition fluid into the combustion chamber (9) of the cylinder (2) such that the fuel pumps (25a, 25b, 25c) alternately feed the ignition fluid.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
