To provide a dummy ball for barrel plating hardly causing contamination in a plating bath, capable of obtaining a uniform plating film thickness to the object to be plated, and also having excellent recovering properties.
The dummy ball for barrel plating is composed of a spherical body with a particle diameter of 0.05 to 1 mm consisting of an Ni based alloy or an Ni based compound, and the standard deviation of the diameter in the spherical body is ≤10 μm. The dummy ball for barrel plating can be produced by cutting a raw material to form into a wire rod composed of Ni, an Ni-based alloy or an Ni-based compound at fixed intervals, so as to be raw material pieces, and next introducing them into plasma flame, and performing fusion and spheroidization.
