Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an eddy current reducing gear, capable of increasing the number of eddy currents generated in a brake drum and consequently magnifying braking torque by increasing the flow channels of magnetic flux formed between magnet side and the inside circumference of the brake drum.
SOLUTION: This eddy current reduction gear is provided with a brake drum 7, a case that includes an outside circumferential wall 12b in proximity to the inside circumferential surface of the brake drum 7, a support cylinder 20 of a nonmagnetic material supported inside the case, a plurality of magnets 22 that are supported by the support cylinder 20 at an interval in the circumferential direction and have magnetic pole surfaces at both ends of the circumferential direction, and a pair of ferromagnetic members 24 provided on the outside circumferential wall 12b, such that opposing surfaces are formed between each of the magnetic pole surfaces for each magnet 22. Each of the ferromagnetic members 24 has two opposing surfaces 24a, that are divided in the circumferential direction by a part of the outside circumferential wall 12b to face the inside circumferential surface of the brake drum 7.
