PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent breakage of a latch piece of a cantilever structure for detaining a circuit board accommodated in an edge connector in a specified position by furnishing the latch piece with a reinforcing rib extending in the longitudinal direction and a restriction part for the rib motions.
SOLUTION: An accommodation groove equipped with a number of contacts is provided at a housing of an edge connector, and a circuit board edge part having a number of terminals is accommodated in the groove. The circuit board is retained in a specified position by latch means installed upright at the two ends of the housing. Each latch means 5 is composed of a latch piece 7 installed upright inside a frame 6 and a restriction part 11 having approx. channel-shaped section for restricting the motion of the latch piece. The latch piece 7 is of a cantilever structure protruding to over the frame 6 where the top is made a free end, and a reinforcing rib 8 in a triangular section is furnished in such a way as stretching in the longitudinal direction. The latch piece 7 is provided with a detention surface 7a for the side edge of circuit board and a pawl part 9 to engage the back surface, and the frame 6 is equipped with an engaging projection 10 to be retained with a notch formed at the side edge of the circuit board.
