Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an edge mode ceramic resonator, usable for an oscillator and a filter by enlarging an electromechanical coupling coefficient.
SOLUTION: This edge mode ceramic resonator 10 utilizes vibration of an edge mode for which the vibration is concentrated near the end part of a rectangular piezoelectric ceramic plate 11. Plural drive electrodes 12 and 13 extended in a thickness direction are provided, facing a width direction inside the length direction end part of the piezoelectric ceramic plate 11, and the polarization of the width direction is executed to the end part of the piezoelectric ceramic plate 11 provided with the drive electrodes 12 and 13. When AC signals are applied between the drive electrodes 12 and 13, since the vibration direction of the edge mode and an electric field direction match, vibration energy is extracted most efficiently, and the electromechanical coupling coefficient is made large.
