Abstract:

To provide an Ehrhardt piercing method capable of securely preventing occurrence of outer surface cracks, when high Cr and high Ni austenitic alloy pipe is manufactured by an Ehrhardt push bench pipe manufacturing method.

When Ehrhardt piercing is performed by charging a steel ingot of austenitic alloy having 90% or less of a high-temperature maximum drawing rate in an elevated temperature tensile test to the inside of a container, if a high-temperature maximum drawing rate of the steel ingot is α[%], the piercing is performed in a condition where a filling area ratio β[%] indicated by a ratio of an average cross section of the steel ingot to an average cross section inside the container satisfies the following formula (1): β≥-4/3×α+170.
