To provide an electric brake device light in weight, and small in size, in which a mechanism capable of pressing disc pads with paired rods operated, that are meshed with a pinion, is employed, and a mechanism capable of carrying out a high reduction gear ratio by making use of a worm gear, is also employed.

This device is concerned with an electrically driven braking device which is provided with a disc rotor 6, and with paired disc pads 5a and 5b that are faced to friction surfaces at both the sides of the disc rotor 6, and carries out a braking operation by pressing and holding the friction surfaces of the disc rotor 6 using the disc pads 5a and 5b. A pinion 7 capable of being driven by a motor 13 is disposed therein, paired a first and a second rod 8a and 8b, that are provided with gears, and are to be meshed with the pinion 7, are also disposed therein, the first and second rods 8a and 8b are moved in the reverse directions respectively by rotating the pinion 7 by means of the motor 13, one of the disc pads is pressed toward the friction surface of the disc rotor by way of the first and second rods 8a and 8b, and furthermore, the other disc pad is pressed toward the friction surface of the disc rotor, so that the braking operation is thereby carried out.
