To provide an electric cleaner with improved handleability, which prevents the sudden stop of a main body without generating large inertia force in the main body on a smooth floor surface and a floor surface with large resistance, prevents the inclination of the main body, a collision with the floor surface and falling when the main body is stopped, and realizes a smooth main body pulling property without the need of excessive pulling force.
By providing a floor surface detection part 41 and a load device 43 for applying loads to a traveling device 31, judging the presence/absence of the operation of the load device 43 by the detected result of the floor surface detection part 41 and changing the moving load of the main body 21, the large inertia force is not generated in the main body by operating the load device 43, the load device 43 is automatically operated only on the floor surface where the operation of the load device 43 is required, and the main body 21 is smoothly pulled around continuously without the need of the excessive pulling force. The main body 21 does not obstruct cleaning work by the collision with the floor surface and falling and the handleability of being capable of comfortably pulling around the main body 21 is improved.
