To provide a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus capable of increasing the S/N of an RF coil incorporated into a top plate and facilitating get-on and get-off of a subject to/from a bed.

The magnetic resonance imaging apparatus is provided with the bed 1 having the top plate for the subject to lie down and reconstitutes images on the basis of magnetic resonance signals radiated from the subject. The top plate 11 includes: a lower top plate 15 for which a concave shape 16 capable of housing the subject is formed on the upper surface side; an upper top plate 14 which is provided so as to cover the concave shape, is controllable to a tense state and a loosened state and is for the subject to lie down; and a coil element arranged between the lower top plate and the upper top plate for receiving the magnetic resonance signals radiated from the subject.
