To provide an electric disk brake device which brings teeth of an engaging claw and a ratchet into a gentle contact with each other during operation of a parking brake.

Peak parts dy of current, where the value of motor current becomes larger than the immediately preceding value, are intermittently contained in a graph showing a process of continually decreasing the motor current. As compared with the case where the peak parts dy of current are not contained, a motor torque enough to overcome the influence of rigidity of a caliper is generated. Accordingly, impact caused when the teeth of the engaging claw and the ratchet make contact with each other is reduced so as to prevent hitting noise caused by the impact, thereby avoiding such a situation that a driver may feel discomfort. By intermittently providing the plurality of the current peak parts dy, the engaging claw is engaged with a tooth bottom of the ratchet with less impact. Since the engaging claw is engaged with the tooth bottom with less impact, the strength of the engaging claw and the ratchet is correspondingly reduced. As a result, the engaging claw and the ratchet are reduced in size, which results in miniaturization of the whole of the device.
