To provide an electric field communication system and transceivers whereby a communication terminal and cables parted by a floor plate can be communication-connected without the need for making a hole to the plate.
A pair of transceivers 1a, 1b making electric field communication with each other is arranged in a way that the transmission electrode and the reception electrode of the one transceiver 1a and the transmission electrode and the reception electrode of the other transceiver 1b are opposed to each other, respectively, with the floor plate 5 of a building interposed between them. The cables 4a under the floor plate are connected to the transceiver 1a, and the communication terminal 10 on the floor plate is connected to the transceiver 1b via a cable 4b.
