The electric rice cooker includes: a rice cooker body 2 including heating means 51, 52 for storing a pan 20 and heating cooked rice inside the pan; and a control unit for controlling the heating means for controlling cooking. The rice cooker body 2 includes: a cooling fan 62 for sucking outside air to the inside for cooling air; and a support base 24 at height H erected at a prescribed height from a floor surface for placement in a base plate unit 22a and the air inlet 23a and the air outlet 23b comprising a through-hole passing through the baseplate unit. In the rice cooker body 2, the baseplate unit 22a includes an air supply and exhaust obstacle detection means 25 for detecting an obstacle blocking the air inlet and the air outlet. The control unit is connected to an alarm means for issuing an alarm and/or a cooking stop means for stopping cooking, and issues an alarm by the alarm means and/or stops cooking by the cooking stop means when the air supply and exhaust obstacle detection means detects an air supply and exhaust obstacle.
