To provide an electric steering device capable of further enhancing durability and meshing accuracy of a gear constituting a rack-and-pinion mechanism.
The electric steering device 10 is a device having an electric motor 46 for giving assistant force relative to steering force inputted from a steering wheel 16 and performing steering of the vehicle 12 by transmitting the steering force including the assistant force to the steered wheel 14 at least a part through the rack-and-pinion mechanism 30. The rack-and-pinion mechanism 30 is provided with: a pinion 38 provided on a pinion shaft 28 connected to the steering wheel 16; a rack 40 provided on a rack shaft 32 connected to the steered wheel 14 over predetermined width and meshing with the pinion 38; and a rack guide 70 for urging the rack shaft 32 to the pinion 38. In the rack 40, a pressure angle 1 of a tooth root is set largely relative to a pressure angle 0 of a tooth tip.
