PURPOSE: To make possible the stability in air and the elongation of life since a sheet resistance is low and the sheet can be used as a charge injection electrode, by providing a negative electrode layer of metallic boride formed on an insulating substrate.
CONSTITUTION: An LaB6 film 3 is formed on a substrate 2, to be 3000 thick at a speed of 5 /sec by electron beam deposition method while heating insulating substrate 2. Hereon, an organic layer composed of a light emitting layer 4 and a positive hole transportation layer 5, and a positive electrode 6 are formed. And, holes are implanted efficiently into the light emitting layer 4 from the positive layer 6 through the transportation layer 5, and also electrons are implanted into it from the negative electrode 3, and these holes and the electrons are recoupled within the light emitting layer 4, thus a light is emitted from the side of the transparent electrode 6. Here, the negative electrode 3 is low in sheet resistance because it is make of metallic boride, so the film electrode 3 of a smooth metallic boride can be used as an electric implanting charge electrode, and a long life of organic light emitting element 1 high in its stability in air can be produced.
