Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure battery performance by suppressing the expansion and contraction of an electrode material layer due to charging and discharging.SOLUTION: A negative electrode 22 comprises a negative electrode collector 30 electrically connected to a negative terminal 18, a negative electrode material layer 32 including an active material formed on the negative electrode collector 30 and a hard coat layer 34. The negative electrode material layer 32 is constituted by at least one unit layer 32A including an active material. The hard coat layer 34 is provided on the surface 3202 of the unit layer 32A positioned opposite to the negative electrode collector 30. The hard coat layer 34 is formed of a material not including the active material of the negative electrode material layer 32 and having higher hardness than that of the negative electrode material layer 32. When the unit layer 32A expands in both of a counter direction A and a direction B perpendicular to the counter direction A due to charging of a lithium-ion secondary battery 10, uneven expansion having variations in the counter direction A of the unit layer 32A is suppressed by the hard coat layer 34.
