Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the occurence of electrolytic stains on a steel sheet by supplying a low frequency alternating current of specific frequency to anodes and cathodes in an electrolytic tank when feed of the sheet is stopped in an electrolytic soln. in an electrolytic purification line. CONSTITUTION:Two pairs of electrodes 3, 4 are set in cell 2 filled with electrolytic soln. (l) of sodium orthosilicate, current is rectified with rectifier 8 to DC, and electrodes 3, 4 are used as cathodes and anodes, respetively. Rolling oil-deposited steel sheet (m) is passed through the space between electrodes 3, 4 to be purified by the saponification reaction of the soln. and by stirring due to H2 and O2 gases formed by electrolysis of water. In case feed of sheet (m) is stopped in soln. (l), brown or bluish purple electrolytic stains due to Si in the soln. occur. In order to prevent the occurence of the stains, low frequency alternating current setting devices 11, 11' are actuated to allow a low frequency alternating current of 0.005-0.15 cycle/sec to flow to anodes 4 and cathodes 3.
