To provide a new polymer suitable as an electrochromic material changing from a desired color-developed state to a decolored state and a new compound useful as a raw material for the polymer.
The electron conjugated polymer has a constitution unit expressed by general formula (2) [wherein X is at least one of group selected from a group consisting of -O-, -S-, -NH- and -NR1- (R1 is 1C-10C alkyl which may have substituents); Y is 1-12C alkylene; Zs are each at least one group selected independently from a group consisting of hydrogen atom and 1C-20C organic groups which may have substituents; W is an ethynylene group, an ethenylene group which may have a substituent, an arylene group which may have a substituent or a bivalent heterocyclic aromatic group which may have a substituent; and n is an integer of 2].
