Title:
MIS/MIM ELECTRON EMITTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2003162956
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an electron emitter element, having superior reliability as well as higher current density and greater stability.

This electron emitter element includes a conductive substrate and an electron supply layer formed on the conductive layer, and the electron supply layer has projections on its surface, and also the sharpness and the density of the projection can be controlled, and further, the projection is closed by an insulator formed on the electron supply layer and itself, and further, an upper side conductive layer is formed on the insulator. As a result, the closed projections are affected relatively little by pollution due to evacuated space, and furthermore, the electric field strength intensity with high density is induced at the projection with low applied voltages because a thickness of the insulator is small, in addition, dispersion and divergence of electrons are minimized.
