To provide an electron source and its manufacturing method capable of suppressing sagging generated in the screen printing process and preventing deterioration of the characteristics and also imperfect functioning when such sagging has occurred eventually.

A carbon film as a cathode electrode is formed into a straight shape, and a wall-form insulating member is formed parallel with the carbon film, and finally an extraction electrode is formed on the insulating member. The carbon film, insulating member and extraction electrode are formed through screen printing. It is also acceptable that the extraction electrode is formed, and then wall-form insulating member is formed, and finally a carbon film as cathode electrode is formed on wall-form insulating member, and in this case, the wall-form insulating member may be formed by any other process than screen printing.
