To provide an electronic component in which a protrusion on a step relaxing layer partially fills a continuous gap formed between the step relaxing layer and a thin-film conductive pattern, thereby preventing moisture or a plating liquid from permeating into the gap.
The electronic component includes: a laminate having a plurality of first insulator substrates 5, thin-film insulating layers 82 and thin-film conductive patterns 85 which are sequentially formed; a second insulator substrate attached on the laminate; and an external electrode connected to an input output terminals. The electronic component has a step relaxing layer 101 for relaxing a step formed between the thin-film insulating layers 82 and the thin-film conductive patterns 85 in the laminate, and the step relaxing layer has a protrusion 103 toward the thin-film conductive patterns 85 and part of the protrusion closely contacts with the thin-film conductive patterns.
