To provide a material for an organic thin-film solar cell that is stable to light, oxygen and heat, and exhibits high-efficiency photoelectric conversion characteristics when used for the organic thin-film solar cell.
The material for the organic thin-film solar cell contains an anthanthrene derivative represented by formula (1). In formula (1), R1 to R12 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a cyano group, a nitro group, a substituted or unsubstituted 1-40C alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted 2-40C alkenyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted 2-40C alkynyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted 6-40C aryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted 3-40C heteroaryl group, a substituted or unsubstituted 1-40C alkyloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted 6-40C aryloxy group, a substituted or unsubstituted 6-40C arylamino group, or a substituted or unsubstituted 1-40C alkylamino group. Adjacent ones of R1 to R12 may be bonded to each other to form a ring.
