PURPOSE: To suppress the low-frequency resonance of any cartridge equally by controlling the gain of a feedback system in accordance with the sensitivity of the cartridge.
CONSTITUTION: A low-frequency resonance frequency accompanying the turning of record 8 is detected by cartridge 12 and this detection output is amplified by AC amplifier 4 by way of LPF3; and the output of amplifier 4 is supplied to driver 5 through gain change-over unit 14 to drive electromagnet 10, and consequently suction force and repulsive force are generated between the electromagnet and permanent magnet 9 to damp tone arm 1, thereby suppressing low-frequency resonance. Here, a rotary switch is used for unit 14 and this rotary switch changes contacts of electromagnet 10 with several contacts so as to control the gain of driver 5. For an MM cartridge high in sensitivity, the contact of switch 14 is connected to 1 to lower the gain of drivers 5 and for an MC cartridge low in sensitivity, the contact is connected to 4 to increase the gain of driver 5, so that both the cartridges can have the same suppression effect for low-frequency resonance.
