Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device and an electronic appliance with excellent characteristics.SOLUTION: An electronic device 1 includes a wavelength-variable interference filter 3, and a package 2 for housing the wavelength-variable interference filter 3. The package 2 includes a base substrate 21 having a light transmission hole 29 through which light is transmitted, and a base substrate side light-transmitting substrate 24 having a light-transmitting property and covering the light transmission hole 29. The base substrate 21 is formed of a multilayer body in which a plurality of layers is stacked. The light transmission hole 29 is formed so that a first opening 291 located on the wavelength-variable interference filter 3 side is smaller than a second opening 292 located on the side opposite to the wavelength-variable interference filter 3 side.
