The electronic endoscope apparatus comprises at least a signal processing circuit 6 for performing a predetermined digital processing on image data, a control CPU circuit 8 for controlling the electronic endoscope device 2, the signal processing circuit 6 or the like, a signal processing circuit memory 9 and a CPU circuit memory 11 for storing circuit data, programs or the like, a signal processing power supply circuit 10 and a control CPU power supply circuit 12 which are independent of each other, and a fault detecting circuit 13 for detecting a fault of the control CPU circuit 8.
