To provide an electronic control device for a hydromechanical transmission HMT capable of smoothly starting a vehicle and being excellent in responsiveness to dynamic operating conditions and brake operation.
The electronically controlled transmission sets gear ratio according to inputs made by an operator and the current operating condition of the vehicle. The transmission varies the gear ratio by simply connecting load to the engine and changing commands. The mechanical function of the transmission consists of simply changing input/output ratio. The operator selects an automatic mode or a manual mode by means of a two-position switch. In the automatic mode, the vehicle speed is set according to throttle position and data on the brake operated by the operator. In the manual mode, the vehicle speed is set according to gear selector data as well as the above data.
