Abstract:

To provide an electrophoretic display device which is compatible with both high quality display and excellent electrophoretic property.

An electrophoretic material 24 includes a solvent in which first pigment particles 241 charged in a first polarity, second pigment particles 242, and transparent particulates 243 are dispersed. Since the transparent particulates 243 dispersed in the solvent scatter color light of the second pigment particles 242, color of the second pigment particles 242 can be contrasted. Furthermore, since the amount of second pigment particles 242 is reduced, high electrophoretic property can be maintained. Accordingly, in an electrophoretic display device 150 which uses the electrophoretic material 24, both high quality display (high contrast and white display having high reflectance) and excellent electrophoretic property (low voltage drive and high speed response) are achieved.
