To provide an electrophotographic method and device which deal with the higher speed and longer life of the electrophotographic device using an optical system of coherent light of an image exposure, beam scanning type, etc., and are wide in the setting latitude of dot diameters and image quality with respect to the degradation in image quality, such as EV flow, and a change in light quantity, such as skirts of a Gauss distribution, and a photoreceptor for the same.
This electrophotographic method and device are obtained by using an a-Si photoreceptor which has high sensitivity and is controlled in the linearity of EV characteristics and by regulating an exposure light quantity [using the a-Si-base photoreceptor having 1/2 sensitivity within a range of 500 to 2,000 V.cm2/μJ and a ratio (EV linearity) of the 1/2 photosensitivity and 1/4 photosensitivity within a range of ±0.2 of the electrophotographic device which subjects the photoreceptor to irradiation with image exposure and using the quantity of light of the image exposure within a range of 0.15 to 0.6 μJ/cm2.
