To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor which improves a cleaning performance and can form an image with high sensitivity, high resolution and high picture quality without lowering the picture quality of the image to be used even under long-term use.
A photosensitive layer 6 provided on a conductive substrate 2 of an electrophotographic photoreceptor 1 contains a crystalline oxotitanium phthalocyanine that exhibits a diffraction peak at least at 27.3° of the Bragg angle 2θ in an X-ray diffraction spectrum, and surface-free energy (γ) on its surface is set to 20-35mN/m. The specific crystalline oxotitanium phthalocyanine is contained so that image formation improved in sensitivity and resolution is made possible, and a sticking strength of a foreign material can be controlled by setting γ within an appropriate range, so that excellent cleaning performance can be realized.
