PURPOSE: To enhance the surface wear resistance of a receptor contg. selenium, to elongate the life and to increase the number of sheets of paper printable with the receptor by forming an amorphous silicon layer which functions practically as an insulating layer on the surface of the receptor.
CONSTITUTION: An amorphous silicon layer 4 which functions practically as an insulating layer is formed on the surface of a receptor obtd. by laying a barrier layer 2 of arsenic triselenide or the like on an electrically conductive substrate 1 and a selenium-contg. inorg. photoconductive layer 3 of amorphous selenium, a selenium-tellurium alloy or the like on the layer 2. The amorphous silicon layer 4 is formed by vapor deposition, glow discharge, sputtering or other method. The barrier layer 2 is laid as required. The optimum thickness of the amorphous silicon layer judged from the hardness and the quantity of half-value exposure is 0.01W0.08μm.
