PURPOSE: To obtain an electrostrictive resonance element usable at a high frequency region by arranging ≥3 electrodes via an electrostrictive material layer so as to be overlapped together in the broadwise direction of a main body made of the electrostrictive material.
CONSTITUTION: The electrodes 2, 3 are formed on both major faces 1a, 1b of a plateshaped main body 1 made of an electrostrictive material, the electrodes 2, 3 have a smaller area than that of the major faces 1a, 1b and formed in such a way that they do not reach the end ridge of the main body 1. Moreover, an electrode 4 is formed in the main body 1 in the middle of the broadwise direction so as to oppose the electrodes 2, 3. Thus, the three electrodes 2∼4 are arranged so as to be overlapped mutually via the electrostrictive material layer respectively in the broadwise direction, and the electrostrictive material layer between the electrodes 2 and 4 and the electrostrictive material layer between the electrodes 3 and 4 are subjected to polarization processing in the direction of the arrow respectively. Thus, the electrostrictive resonance element having a structure capable of employing a wide variety of electrostrictive materials is obtained.
