To provide an elevator door device with high applicability which can automatically determine a state of tension of a rope upon door opening and closing operation and which can accurately identify a location where abnormity of tension occurs.
A door device uses a control device (diagram) connected to an open end detection switch 22 and a closed end detection switch 21 which detect that a moving position of a driven door 16 connected to a drive rope 12 is at a door open position or at a door closed position, to, when a door motor 1 is operated to drive a drive door 7 and the driven door 16 to open or close, determine a state of tension at one side of the rope 12 according to a result of comparing a drive amount of the one side of the rope 12 detected based on an output pulse number of a rotary encoder 23 provided at the door motor 1 with a normal value after receiving a signal of the switch 22 when the door is open, and determine a state of tension at the other side of the rope 12 according to a result of comparing a drive amount of the other side of the rope 12 detected based on a pulse number with the normal value in a similar manner after receiving a signal of the switch 21 when the door is closed.
