Title:
EMERGENCY SHUTDOWN VALVE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3694642
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emergency shutdown valve having simple construction in which valve opening state is immediately switched to a valve closing state so as to securely and safely intercept a conduit in case of emergencies such as earthquake.
SOLUTION: The emergency shutdown valve 1 is primarily comprises a valve body 2 in which a valve element 4 is mounted on a valve rod 5 inserted into a valve casing 3 to be disposed, an arm 7 communicated with the valve rod 5 and provided with a weight 6 energized in a closing direction of the valve element 4, a lock lever 8 locking the arm 7 at a valve opening position of the valve element 4, a motor-driven actuator 14 canceling the locking status, and a hydraulic shock absorber 25 for controlling rotating speed of the arm 7. With this configuration, energization to the motor-driven actuator 14 for a very short time leads to a lock releasing operation and allows rotation of the arm 7. The abnormalities such as a break exert little effect on valve opening action of the valve element 4, thereby preventing a stop of the valve element 4 at an intermediate opening degree, and allowing the conduit to securely and safely intercept.
