PURPOSE: To prevent the communicating portion of an intake muffler from cracks and breakages by forming an engaging portion on the outer periphery of a cylinder head and permitting the engaging portion to engage the communicating portion of intake muffler.

CONSTITUTION: An intake muffler 27 of an enclosed motor compressor is constituted from a main body 27' forming a muffler chamber 27" and a communicating portion 28. One end of the communicating portion 28 makes concave-convex engagement with the main body 27' of intake muffler 27 and the other engages an intake hole 30 of a cylinder head 29 on a engaging portion 30' to communicate to the intake hole 30. The cylinder head 29 is formed in the proximity of outer periphery of said intake hole 30 with an annular groove 29' and the intake hole 30 is opposed to an intake port 32 of a valve plate 31. Thus, a force 29" generated by thermal strain due to a temperature difference between the cylinder head 29 and communicating portion 28 is reduced by the groove 29' and the intake muffler is prevented from deformation due to heat.
