Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a physostigmine or arecoline composition for intranasal administration comprising the aqueous solution or suspension of physostigmine, arecoline or their salts in a specific amount, and useful for the intranasal administration to mammalian to treat dysgnosia such as senile dementia of Alzheimer. CONSTITUTION: This physostigmine or arecoline composition comprises the aqueous solution or suspension or physostigmine, arecoline or their salts in an amount of administering <=140μg/kg or the physostigmine or <=300μg/kg of the arecoline to mammalian. The dose of the physostigmine or its salt is approximately 0.5-140μg/kg, preferably approximately 10-30μg/kg, or the dose of the arecoline or its salt is approximately 0.5-300μg/kg, preferably approximately 10-30μg/kg. The volume of a solution or suspension administered as a nasal drop for each administration is approximately 5-400μ liter, preferably approximately 50-150μ liter.
