Abstract:
To provide reflection coats used on external surfaces such as asphalt shingles and rooftop tiles for increasing solar reflectance and a method to extend the effective life of the coats.
A non-white building surface in this invention comprises a base material, a primary reflection coat which is on at least part of external surface of the base material and provides the base material with a minimum direct solar reflectance value of at least around 25%, and a secondary reflection coat on at least part of the primary reflection coat. The combination of the primary and secondary reflection coats provide the base material with a reflectance of at least around 20% at virtually every point of a wavelength range of 770-2500 nm.
