Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate large gas flow in a cylinder in a low load/low speed rotation area and to secure accuracy in air-fuel ratio controlling.
SOLUTION: In an engine having two intake ports at each cylinder, an intake air amount is controlled by controlling opening/closing timings of intake valves arranged on the respective intake ports. In such an engine, the two intake valves are both actuated for controlling the intake air amount in a high load/ high speed rotation area, while only one of the intake valves is actuated in a low load/low speed rotation area, for generating large flow of gas in the cylinder (S3). A fuel correction amount in a transient time based on the fuel amount adhered to a wall surface is changed over correspondingly to port flow velocity differentiated between actuation of both the intake valves and actuation of only one intake valve (S4, S5).
