To provide an engine generator which can control to prevent AC output power from back-flowing on the system side thereof, even when using an AC conversion means employed in wind power generation, in an engine generator in which generated AC power from a generator driven with an engine is converted into DC power and the DC power thus obtained is converted into AC output power.
The engine generator 100a is updated and set as follows: the inclination of AC conversion characteristics βof an inverter 20 is smaller than that of the output characteristics α of the generator 12; when a target AC output power Pi is smaller than an AC output power Pj, the AC conversion characteristics are moved in the direction increasing AC output setting power Pi' relative to the same DC setting voltage Vdc'; and when the AC output power Pi is larger than a target AC output power Pj, the AC conversion characteristics are moved in the direction decreasing the AC output setting power Pi' relative to the same DC setting voltage Vds'.
