Abstract:
To make a heat efficiency improvement request in a middle load operation of an engine and a knocking suppression request in a high load operation compatible.SOLUTION: An engine is equipped with a main combustion chamber that is formed by a cylinder block, a cylinder head, and a piston, a sub chamber 15 that has a plurality of injection holes 18 opening to the main combustion chamber, and an ignition plug 16 that ignites mixture in the sub chamber 15. In the engine, a compression ratio ε of the main combustion chamber is 14 to 24, a drawing ratio β=St/V which is a rate of the total cross-sectional area St of a plurality of injection holes 18 with respect to volume V of the sub chamber 15 is 0.0078 mm-1 to 0.0145 mm-1, and the volume V of the sub chamber 15 is 0.0430 cm3 to 0.5631 cm3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
