Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perform the common use of an engine and reduce the size thereof by a method wherein a cam shaft driving means is disposed in a deviation space formed on one side each of right and left banks deviated from each other in a cylinder arrangement direction and an auxiliary machine driving means is disposed to the other on the outer side of either of the banks.

CONSTITUTION: In an engine, left and right banks 4 and 5 are deviated in a cylinder arrangement direction and deviation spaces 7 and 8 are formed on respective one sides at the outside thereof. In this case, the deviation spaces 7 and 8 are set as the disposing spaces 11 and 12 of cam shaft driving means 9 and 10, respectively. The outside in a cylinder arrangement direction of either bank 4 is set as the disposing space 25 of an auxiliary machine 23 and the drive means on the other side at the outside in a cylinder arrangement direction. Namely, a new deviation space 29 formed between the front end of the disposing space 12 on the front end side of the left bank 5 and the front end of the right bank 4 may be utilized. This constitution causes achievement of the use of V-type and I-type engines in common with each other and shortening of the overall length of the engine.
